My successes.

Instead of orders for one or two skirts, Drazba now finds herself shipping out orders for hundreds of skirts. The same jean skirt that was just a way to take one woman's mind off her problems has become a jean skirt fashion empire. Since working with SCORE, “I now believe the American dream is real," Drazba says.

How SCORE helped.

SCORE mentors taught Drazba how to find financial backing for her business, and they worked together for six months to develop a business plan. Drazba's bank was impressed with Theresa’s detailed plan for starting her small business. Soon she had the backing to open the doors for Love My Jean Skirt.

How Did Your Business Get Started?

A devout member of the Pentecostal faith, Theresa Drazba struggled to find modest clothing that reflected her beliefs. She transformed one old pair of jeans into a modest skirt, and received rave reviews at church that week.

But when Drazba wanted to take her clothing business from her sewing room to the storefronts of Hannibal, Missouri, she knew she couldn’t do it alone. She first started selling her modest clothing designs on Facebook, later expanding to a full ecommerce site.
